We are thrilled to announce that we now support Direct Messages within our Memberships feature! This exciting new feature revolutionizes how you connect with your members, offering a personal touch that's both engaging and rewarding. Along with this, you can now accept optional or required tips from members when they message you. Here's everything you need to know about Direct Messages and how they can elevate your interactions with your community:

How do direct messages (DMs) work on Fourthwall?

Direct Messages allow you to send private messages to your members and vice-versa. You’ll also be able to send mass messages to all members or members of specific tiers. We recommend sending messages to supporters when:

• Welcoming a new member
• Announcing a livestream
• Connecting with your biggest supporters

Are Direct Messages the same as Paid DMs?

They can be. Enabling Direct Messages through Fourthwall Memberships gives you the option to either:

1. Send and receive messages from all members
2. Require a minimum tip for messages from members

Every community is different, and every creator will have different uses for their direct messages. You have the ability to choose what works best for you and your supporters. 

Why should I enable Direct Messages?

Here are the benefits:

How much can I make from Paid DMs?

How to Enable Messages on Your Site

Activating Direct Messages is a breeze:

1. Navigate to Memberships → Settings → Messages.
2. Check the “Enable messages” checkbox.
3. That's it! You're ready to start messaging.

Activating Paid DMs:

1. Once you’ve followed the steps above, the option to allow tips will automatically be enabled.
2. To require tips for messages, select ‘Set minimum tip requirement for members to send a message’ and enter your minimum tip amount.

How to introduce this feature to your supporters

This is a feature that will likely get your supporters super excited. So, once you’ve enabled DMs on your site, we suggest sending a mass message to let everyone know. You’ll have the option to send a message to all current and former members letting them know that they can now DM you.
